At length an Aga is fent from the BaJJa of Zenati to conduit them thither; at ivhich time Captain Dounton arrives in the Peppercorn from. Aden. TO return to Sir Henry, who on his leaving Aden proceeded to the weftward, and on the 14th of November in the morning, faw the headland going into the Red Sea, rifing like an ifland, 30 leagues from Aden.

Having pafled the ftreight of Babalmandel, Sir Henry fent his pinnace for a pilot to a village in a fandy bay, which returned with two Arabs, and about four o'clock they defcried the town of Mocha; but endeavouring to get in, the wind being high they fplit their main-top-fail, and hoifting their mizen, it alfo fplit; but what was ftill worfe, the pretended pilots brought the Trade's Increafe aground upon a bank of fand, and as the wind blew hard, and the fea ran pretty high, they were all in fear of her being loft.

That night a boat came on board from the town, with a very handfome Turk fent by theGovernor, to know what they were, and their bufmefs. Sir Henry told him they were Eng- UJh merchants who came to trade; to which he replied, that if they were Englijhmen, they were heartily welcome.

He then hafted back to inform the Aga who they; were, promifmg to return the next morning with boats to lighten the fhip, which had run aground. He was called Lord of the Sea, his office being to fearch fliips, to prevent frauds in the cuftoms, and to fee that lighters are fent on board to unlade them.
